Advertising and marketing tips and tactics abound in Claude Hopkin's classic book Scientific Advertising.

If you're looking for advertising tips or marketing tactics to improve the results of your current advertising, or are learning what you must do before you advertise, I commend your initiative in doing research before your costs run unnecessarily high, with possible fatal results.

However, I respectfully suggest that rather than looking for specific advertising tips or marketing tactics, it's best that you learn or better yet, discover the unfailing concepts behind successful advertising.

That way, when you advertise, you'll be applying principles that are proven to work, and not just gimmicks or tips which works for a particular situation but may fail miserably in another.

What I'm saying is that you should learn advertising concepts and laws that are immutable, that never change, and ones you can apply in your business and even in your personal life.

And that leads me to Claude Hopkin's Scientific Advertising...

Personally, I have read the book at least 6 times in my short marketing experience. Each time I read that book, new marketing ideas flow -- ideas that I have easily applied in my other businesses, both offline and online with great success.

For example, in Chapter 7, Claude Hopkin's talks about "Strategy":

• We are told to consider, or re-consider what might be the best price for our products.
• We are told to find out how distributors or retailers feel about the product, or a competitor's product.
• We are told to consider a name that can propel the popularity and "stickiness" in consumers' minds.
• We are told to consider the strengths and weaknesses of competitors.
• We are told to uncover the specific advantage our products have over the competition.

Once we know these facts -- then are we to craft our advertising message and strategy.

It's not a hit or miss campaign -- for advertising blindfolded is expensive and sometimes fatal.

I suggest you give Claude Hopkins Scientific Advertising a good read, with a notebook and highlighter nearby. You are about to discover precious nuggets of wisdom not found elsewhere.

Don't go for piecemeal advertising tips and marketing tactics - go for the timeless concepts and strategies; for we humans never change.
